Elemental Herbs Zinc Sunstick

Up until now, I have only used water or oil based sunscreens, never have I used sun protection in the form of a stick (it’s true, there's a first time for everything! LOL).
So yes, I am very glad I tried Elemental Herbs SunStick in addition to their sunscreen sport and Lip SPF.

In my trial period, I found the SunStick perfect for using on facial areas like the forehead, chin, nose and even around eyes. These curvy spots can be pretty challenging to get sunblock over. As a dry, non-liquid stick, you don't have to worry about sunscreen liquid getting in your eyes, nose, ears or mouth. Other areas I found the sunstick very useful are the tops and sides of the ears, around the ankles and on the tops of the feet.

The American Academy of Dermatology recommends using one ounce of sunscreen to cover sun exposed areas. As this is a non-liquid, my only complaint would be that it’s difficult to approximate say this one ounce measurement. However, I found the Sunstick so easy to use, I constantly grabbed for it from my bag and reapplied frequently (have you seen all my twitter pics?!).

Remember, the best sunscreen is the one you will use and reapply and for me, I love using the Elemental Herbs Sunstick. Yet another product where it’s such a joy to use (like a fav lipbalm).The stick goes on dry and requires only a bit of gentle rubbing. The unscented version has hints of yummy shea and cocoa butter.

I love that it uses broad spectrum UVA + UVB coverage Zinc oxide, the product doesn’t harm our ocean reefs and the product is chemical free.

Any product that is chemical free gets brownie points in my book. Those suffering from multiple chemical allergies will agree that finding chemical free personal care products can be very challenging. Kudos Elemental Herbs!

Jojoba Oil: Jojoba oil is a great moisturizing and soothing carrier oil. It closely resembles human sebum and does not clog pores.

Avocado Oil: contains a variety of phytochemicals which may help prevent DNA damage, and enhance wound healing

Coconut Oil: good for moisturizing and softening skin

Shea Butter: a well-known skin hydrater, with a varied essential fatty acid profile. These fatty acids help retain moisture and aid in cell regeneration.

After 4 weeks of active use (in June 2014, and still using!), I found it to be great sun protection for my face, ears, ankles, feet as well as a tool to help me reapply frequently throughout the day over my arms, legs and neck. Although not labelled water resistant, the product formulation and size makes it super easy to use, I used it multiple times throughtout the day and it helped me to remain sunburn free. I would highly recommend this product for daily activities such as walking or hiking.
