cocamidopropylbetaine

Cocamidopropylbetaine (CAPB) commonly known as a foaming agent, is a synthetic ingredient used in cleansers of all sorts including body washes, liquid cleansers, shampoos, conditioners as well as cleaning solutions. It can also be known as coco-betaine, coconut diethanolamide, cocoyl amide propylbetaine or cocamidopropyl dimethyl glycine among other names. In a recent 2014 study, researchers found an association between atopic dermatitis and hypersensivity to CAPB and recommended those suffering from atopic dermatitis should avoid this ingredient in their personal care and skin care products.
