Scouting Brands At IECSC

Tuesday, I had a fun filled day walking through Jacob Javits at the International Esthetics, Cosmetics and Spa Conference (IECSC). With hundreds of exhibitors, the skin fanatic in me felt truly dropped in heaven surrounded by skin care and beauty products galore!

The conference is usually a 3 day event, coincides with the International Beauty Show (IBS....mainly make-up and hair) and is visited by over 53,000 beauty professionals in the skin care, spa and cosmetic industries. It is a great place to meet other skin obsessed individuals aka skin passionate as well as meet the business people who work to get the brands known.

I did speak with several local distributors for NY and some estheticians along the way which was super fun. I got to try on lots and lots of new skin care products and experience some great product alternatives. All in all, it was a superb day.

The show is open only to those in the industry I believe but I was able to get a discounted ticket ($45) with a student ID through my aesthetics school. If you're interested in learning about brands impacting the skin care and beauty industry, this is a show you want to get in for.

Here are some of my highlights:

From the Eminence Organic Booth...

Antioxidant Moisturizer- Firm Skin Acai Moisturizer has amazing hydration and texture on the skin, moisturizes and firms skin, without feeling too heavy or oily.

Body Lotion- Coconut Firming Body Lotion uses shea butter, coconut oil, grape seed oil and Swiss Green Apple Stem cells to hydrate and rejuvenate skin. Has an amazing light coconut scent and isn't sticky.

Hand Cream- the Vanilla Mint Hand Cream is an amazing little tube of wonders; light yet hydrating, very good for on the go (what can I say, its the nurse in me always checking out hand creams!)

Sun Protection- I'm super excited to try the Sun Defense Honey Apple mineral powder sunscreen (SPF 30); with zinc oxide this mineral form of the uv blocker can go over my moisturizer, can't wait!!

Farmhouse Fresh Booth...

The Honey Magnolia Body Oil is definitely to die for; its light floral scent makes me wish for spring to arrive like tomorrow! It uses grape seed and olive fruit oils to moisturize and is pthalate free

Ilike Booth...

I'm totally in love with this deep hydrating moisturizer. Linden & Marigold Rejuvenating Treatment treats and revitalizes skin with linden and marigold providing anti-inflammatory and antiseptic benefits. It has a soft, smooth, creamy texture and feels amazing on the skin!! OMG, I wanna share yet at the same time, keep this product a secret! sssshhhhh lol

The Rose Petal Cleansing Milk also caught my eye as it gently cleanses using less than 10 ingredients and without chemical preservatives. A potential cleanser for sensitive skin and rosacea patients.

Plantogen Booth...

I was really inspired to see products containing natural remedies including the use of honey. Plantogen incorporates Manuka honey which is indigenous to both the north and south islands of New Zealand. Known for its bactericidal activity, high sugar content and low pH, Manuka honey is being used in the treatment of burns as well as chronic wound infections. Plantogen's Pure Manuka Honey Active can be used as a topical skin preparation or mask.

Universal Companies Booth - eco-fin...

Have you been waiting for a parrafin wax alternative like I have?!@#$%^!

eco-fin is a natural, petroleum free paraffin alternative. You can receive soft, moisturized hand treatments with a blend of palm, soy, jojoba. organic coconut oil, shea butter and vitamin e. They come scented or unscented. Be sure to ask your spa for this wonderful alternative! Hands so soft!

Carefree Naturals Booth...

I'm always on the hunt for new sun protection products..this Rubber Ducky chemical free sunscreen uses only zinc oxide and titanium dioxide in its products and is water resistant for up to 8 hours. It comes tinted and untinted. The untinted for face and body has SPF 30.

How about you? Have you tried any of these products or gone to the IECS conference? Share your experiences, I'd love to hear from you.

Till next time skin ravers,
